Sittin' Up In My Room | Target Style

Sittin' Up In My Room | Target Style

As a young girl, being the only child, I would stay to myself, in my room and play Barbie’s. It was just me and no one knew what I was doing. It was a sacred time and created a barrier between the world and me. I would brush their hair, talk to them, and when I finished, I felt like I had just had the most amazing conversation with a friend. As a teenager, I clung to my alone time and filled my head with fairytale dreams. I recall so many moments in my room playing dress up, applying makeup, and pretending I was Christie Brinkley. It was because of this that my desire of big dreams started.

You see, I didn’t know it at the time, but this is what I always wanted.

A fashion blog.

I would beg my mom to buy film for the, 110 Kodak camera. I would get her to snap pictures of me in the most random outfits. Yet somehow, most the pictures would show a shadow of my mothers’ thumb behind the flash. However, those most random outfits were my pride and joy.

Today, as I’m following so many other fashionistas, I can’t help but wonder where or when the journey of their blogs started. It gives not only me the opportunity to see how different we are from each other, but it also gives others the same. It dawned on me that though we may have the same desires – that our differences are what unite us. My style invites you to see things a little differently and you are able to invite me to see yours differently. I can’t help but wonder if those Barbie’s really did speak to me silently  😉

Best,
Kacie
