Top Five Favorite Places In Southwest Louisiana

Welcome to the prettiest post office you have ever laid your eyes on. This was my third time visiting this beautiful place, and still it continues to surprise me with new experiences. One of the things I love the most about where I live is the culture and this up and coming destination is the perfect place to venture off to. With so much new construction surrounding every corner, this has been the perfect location for great photography shoots. It was a no-brainer on my blogging list. Meet the inside of the Walnut Grove post office. Initially, my mom was going to be in these photos with me, but chemo had other plans for her, as she stayed in bed this day. However, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot with my sweet friend and photographer, Anna. Alongside of this tucked away community, here are my top five places to visit in Lake Charles, LA if you ever get the opportunity!!

1. Walnut Grove Community:

2. Mazen’s Restaurant:

3. Golden Nugget Salon and Spa:

4. Crossroads Book Store:

5. Mama Shines Shaved Ice and More:

Walnut Grove Community. Great for photography, events, walks, and runs.

Mazen is a very low key, romantic type restaurant. They serve great red wine and a fabulous crab topping over your filet. Caution: the tables are close together, so if you have a purse, baby bag, or if your husband has huge muscles, whatever the case may be … walk carefully.

The Golden Nugget Salon and Spa. This is the only place that sells the hair products I love in SWLA. However, wether you are getting your hair done or relaxing in the heated bubble pool, you have to sit in the waiting room for a tad. They offer coffee, tea, and snacks while you wait. Win. Win.

Crossroads Book Store. A great Christian store for all your spiritual needs.

Mama Shines Shaved Ice and More . .. Have you seen their facebook page? Need a say more.

Hey Peeps! I'm Kacie, a 30 something year old dreamer with a love of all things. I'm a shy and very quiet girl from Louisiana. I grew up on a farm in the middle of watermelon fields and dirt roads. However, it was in the middle of those roads where my journey began as a child. I would like to think that I can always return to where I’m from when life is overwhelming. I enjoy baking, gardening, eating, photography, & all things country-related. I’m also a cradle Catholic who enjoys learning more about Catholicism. God has put my Faith to the test on several different occasions throughout my life. I’m a caregiver to my mother and this is where starting a blog began.
