Making it With Mom: Cancer Recipe From Cancer Treatment Centers of America

Good Friday morning!! If there is one thing, I could tell you about cancer other than it SUCKS! Is that watching your sugars are uber important. However, it has been SOOOO hard for my mom to keep under control. Her mind plays tricks on her and before you know it, she is literally  in the corner with her back turn, eating the last slice of cake, pie, cupcake, brownies and anything else she can get her hands on. OF course, we all laugh but the reality is, it makes cancer grow and that is not funny.

My mom’s doctor always says it best: just don’t bring it in the house! For you know it, I’m having a cookie and another hour I’m having another one. Then bam, the entire box is gone.

Don’t get caught up with the hype and claims of specific detox plans or drinks, as the body simply doesn’t need them. Having said this, it may be beneficial to cut down on foods and drinks low in nutrients and high in sugar such as cakes, biscuits, sweets and chocolate, alcohol and pop, as well as excessive amounts of caffeine, which could be disturbing your sleep. Getting rid of these foods from your kitchen may be a good place to start. Fill your home with foods and rinks that are going to nourish your body from the inside out and that are going to make you feel positive from both a physiological and psychological point of view. There’s no need to cut out certain foods or food groups, just remember to exercise moderation. Walking 30 minutes a day on a treadmill and a few ab workouts is all my mom’s doctor has encouraged for the time being.

Below is an article from the Cancer Treatment Center of America that I highly recommend is a must read!

Hey Peeps! I'm Kacie, a 30 something year old dreamer with a love of all things. I'm a shy and very quiet girl from Louisiana. I grew up on a farm in the middle of watermelon fields and dirt roads. However, it was in the middle of those roads where my journey began as a child. I would like to think that I can always return to where I’m from when life is overwhelming. I enjoy baking, gardening, eating, photography, & all things country-related. I’m also a cradle Catholic who enjoys learning more about Catholicism. God has put my Faith to the test on several different occasions throughout my life. I’m a caregiver to my mother and this is where starting a blog began.
