4 Favorite Reads This Fall Season

Down south warm winds, whirling leaves as cars pass on my country road and the smell of wood burning on a fire next door. The sun set peeks through my window and that is where you will find me, cuddled up in one of my mom’s throw blankets, soaking up a good book. As of lately, I have been devouring myself in books and my bookshelves are overflowing with good reads right now. Here are some of my current favorites:

  1. Saints Behaving Badly

This book does not make me feel so bad after reading a few of these stories, I tell ya! Man, but then again it almost makes me feel worse because the more I’m learning the more I should know better. Some of these Saints were terrible people and then that one moment of hearing the Lords calling. WOW! Each short story briefly tells the story of how Gods glory transformed their lives. It is hard for me to put into words or describe to you without reading it for yourselves. All I can say is it is refreshing and delightful. P.S. I have so many favorite saints but a few of mine are: St. Dismas, St Christopher and St. Margaret of Cortona. Who is your favorite Saint?

2. Drinking With The Saints

I am such a sucker for a good cookbook! Who is with me on this! Most of the time, I decorate with them more than I open up to the first recipe. Sad, I know! Probably why I’m not the best chef in the world but never-the-less, they are always there if that opportunity arises. This “Drinking With The Saints” book is AHHH-MAZING! Seriously, if you haven’t ordered one do so now here: http://www.catholiccompany.com/

Ok, back to the book – This book has made me want to throw a get together with my girlfriends and toast to our friendships. It is also a great conversation piece to have. Each day, every day is devoted to a Saint and a brief description of their lives, with a new drink and recipe every day!! What a great gift to give for the Holidays coming up!

3. Grieving With Mary

This little book could have been a blog post all on its own for me. At some point in our lives, we will endure some of the world’s greatest heartaches. The memory of the day my mother was fighting for her life is as clear as if it happened only yesterday. Those are the struggles of someone battling PTSD. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand more times. PSTD is like one minute you are perfectly fine and the next clinging to your chest without breath. It is as cancer has spread throughout my body and not my mom’s. Even though she is cancer free right now the memory and flashbacks has been hard to let go and let God so to say. The fear of death leaves you stunned. Even if time has elapsed over a certain amount of months, you will never be the same. However, my Faith is giving me strength. It has brought me closer to my rosary and to our blessed mother. I truly try to close my eyes and meditate on the words of the Hail Mary. In this little book the words and teaching on Mary has been refreshing to be closer to my heavenly mother.

4. Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible

Encouragement! Exciting! Humorous!

This book is awesome. Do not let the cover fool you either. I absolutely love this boo. It has bible verses within each chapter, study guides, questions and answers to reflect on in your personal life and lessons we can meditate on.

Seriously all four of these books are wonderful reads and a great collection on your bookshelf.

XOXO

Hey Peeps! I'm Kacie, a 30 something year old dreamer with a love of all things. I'm a shy and very quiet girl from Louisiana. I grew up on a farm in the middle of watermelon fields and dirt roads. However, it was in the middle of those roads where my journey began as a child. I would like to think that I can always return to where I’m from when life is overwhelming. I enjoy baking, gardening, eating, photography, & all things country-related. I’m also a cradle Catholic who enjoys learning more about Catholicism. God has put my Faith to the test on several different occasions throughout my life. I’m a caregiver to my mother and this is where starting a blog began.
