Getting The Most Out Of A Retreat

Hey guys! I haven’t blogged in over a course of months because I’ve been doing a lot of “soul searching” and quite frankly busy trying to make the most of each day with my family. If you’re a parent of a child who does summer activities than you can relate to me, or if you’re just a busy bee during the summer traveling around. I’ve also been on a team called ACTS through my church community. If you haven’t heard of ACTS before it’s absolutely wonderful! ACTS strives to grow your relationship with the Lord…and let me tell you, it is doing just that for me. I’m most happy to announce that this is my first team to serve on and it will also be my mom’s first retreat to attend. I’m so blessed to be able to serve my mother through Gods calling. What a beautiful memory to cherish. I can’t tell you enough about how ACTS has helped me grow in my relationship with GOD and within my church. If you are interested in attending or learning more about the ACTS community the website is listed below…

 It stands for A-adoration … C-community … T-theology … S-service

ACTS originally started in San Antonio, TX and is the body over all ACTS Retreats.

“Go into the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature” – Mark16:15

However, if you’re not only interested in an ACTS retreat there are a lot of other retreats to attend. I have always wanted to go to a place called Grand Coteau deep down south in Louisianas marsh lands. My grandmother has attended this retreat every year in the Fall and my dad attended one many, many years ago with his grandfather and uncles. To sit back and hear him talk about his memories only made it that much more intriguing to me. This retreat is completely in silence. which means, if you’re a blabber mouth – you can’t speak for the entire retreat!! However, if you’re like my family then you get to hear the tales of how they would sneak off in the middle of the night and find the freezer where the buckets of ice cream were stored!! I’m hoping to attend this silent retreat with my mom in the near future. I know at some point we will get the giggles!! Also, if the silent retreat is not for you, they also have other retreats during the year. I know to my understanding they also have a marriage retreat as well! check out the website below for more details and check out how beautiful the grounds are with all the oak trees and the old cemetery. The word on the street is a couple of miracles were preformed there many years ago. WOW!

And speaking of beautiful grounds, there will never be enough hours in the day to watch my mom in her yard surrounded by her flowers and what she has always loved.

… and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God as fragrant aroma – Ephesians 5:2

what are some of your favorite retreats to attend?

Hey Peeps! I'm Kacie, a 30 something year old dreamer with a love of all things. I'm a shy and very quiet girl from Louisiana. I grew up on a farm in the middle of watermelon fields and dirt roads. However, it was in the middle of those roads where my journey began as a child. I would like to think that I can always return to where I’m from when life is overwhelming. I enjoy baking, gardening, eating, photography, & all things country-related. I’m also a cradle Catholic who enjoys learning more about Catholicism. God has put my Faith to the test on several different occasions throughout my life. I’m a caregiver to my mother and this is where starting a blog began.
