Newnan The Labradoodle From Tennessee

Newnan is a 7-week old Labradoodle from Shelbyville, Tennessee.  And even though we have only been together for a few short days, I know this little (ok big) dog is going to bring me so much happiness. I have been looking for something to get my mind off cancer, not that it’s really possible, but something to help ease the pain. I initially wanted to remodel an older model Airstream camper, but when I found out how much work would be involved, and how expensive Airstreams can get, that really became a nonevent. But, I see you Tommy Bahama special edition. I see you!

Somehow, this all led to getting on the dog train. You see, my dear friend was talking about how she and her husband were getting Wirehaired Pointing Griffon dogs to breed. She said, Kacie you have to google these dogs”. So I did. I wanted one instantly! We both agreed that once her Griffon puppies were old enough to breed, I would buy one from her. As time went on,she started telling me the most hilarious stories about how the puppies were terrorizing everything! I started second guessing what I was getting myself into, which all puppies chew, no doubt about that, but what really topped the icing on the cake was seeing them locally, so I decided I wanted something different. This led me to Newnan.

I first came across doodles on Instagram and started reading up on them. The number one selling point is that doodles are a non-shedding animals and the number two selling point, for me, was the fact that doodles are highly intelligent service dogs. I say service dogs, because that is exactly what I have been looking for to help with my depression. Newnan will start training soon.

I reached out locally, here in Louisiana and the woman I wanted to go through told me she had sold all of her puppies but referred me to the woman she bought her Labradoodles from out of Tennessee. I kindly thanked her and told her that was a bit far for me but she expressed how the woman would either drive to you OR meet you. I reached out to the lady and asked her the price on her puppies. I told her thank you so much, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to swing the cost or the drive. She was the sweetest woman and told me not to worry about athing.  She said she’d hold the puppy until it was paid for and then drive to meet me half way when it was time.

I backed out, and there I was every night staring at their Facebook page, looking at the progression of the puppy mayhem. I was praying and wishing I could have my very own doodle. I went for weeks, watching those puppies grow, seeing who was taking them home and waiting to see what their sweet names would be. And then a miracle happened.

She posted a picture of the last Labradoodle puppy she had and said he was still looking for his forever home. His sheeplike fur was shining through Facebook and his puppy eyes were staring right at me! I reached out for the second time and asked her if we could still work together on a puppy. She replied something like, of course we can! That following Monday I sent her the deposit. This was really happening.

We met half way  in Meridian, Mississippi and I got to meet my precious Newnan for the first time. It was really love at first sight. The name Newnan comes from the town where the Cancer Treatment Center is located  Newnan, Georgia. Newnan is going to be such a special thing in my life. He will be my sidekick blogger and my companion for my brokenhearted days. He is my dream dog and I’m so lucky that I came across that one special lady, who only wanted a forever home for her puppy.

Stay tuned!
